Things To Consider Before Planning To Scrap Your Car

When I decided to sell my car, it was somewhere in the year 2005. I was using my car for a pretty long period of 15 years. And like me, am sure there are thousands who too might have been driving their cars for more than a decade.

Most of us tend to keep on driving the car until the last drop of it is lost. Always remember, cars are machines and machines can get worn out or outdated at any period of time. It is always advised to use a car for a maximum period of 5 years. This is the general warranty period provided by most of the car manufacturing companies.

Before handing your car to a dealer, do ensure that there are no important documents in any of the compartments inside the car. Once your car is towed away, you will not be able to get hold of the documents.

Usually the scrap dealers pay as per the weight of the car. If your car weighs more, payment will be higher. Simultaneously, if your vehicle is in a running condition, again the payment can be increased.

Another important thing is to see that your car is kept clean and neat when the scrap dealer comes to visit your garage and provide you with their offer. Most of us do not clean the junk cars and leave it as it is for a long period of time. The cleaner your car is more are the chances of getting a better offer for your car.

Do keep these points in mind before you plan to give your car to a dealer. And always take hard cash. Do not take any advance cash from your dealer. If they pay you advance cash, see that you give them your car after the full payment is made.
